John Butler

John Butler has diverse work experience in the insurance and asset management industry. John started their career at Imperial Fire & Marine Re-Insurance Company Ltd as an Underwriting Assistant in 1997. John then worked as an Assistant Underwriter at AXA Corporate Solutions from 2000 to 2002. From 2002 to 2009, they held a Senior Vice President position at White Mountains Capital, specializing in International Property Treaty. John subsequently joined Hannover Re in 2010 as a Senior Underwriter. In 2012, Butler became the CEO, President, and Managing Partner at Twelve Capital, overseeing investment management and serving as the head of the UK and US branches.

In 2017, they joined Cohen & Company Asset Management as a Managing Director, where they were responsible for developing and managing the US Insurance Asset Management Platform and the Global ILS Program. John also held various leadership positions within Cohen & Company Financial (Ireland) Ltd, Insurance Acquisition Corp., and INSU Acquisition Corp. II.

Butler's advisory roles include memberships on the boards of Inaza and Kovrr. Additionally, they served as the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for TCI Re at Taussig Capital from 2020 to 2023. John also acted as the Non-Executive Chairman of Metromile from 2021 to 2022.

John Butler attended the Chartered Insurance Institute from 1997 to 1999, where they obtained a degree as a Chartered Insurer and Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute. Prior to that, from 1994 to 1997, they attended SOAS University of London and received an LL.B. (Hons) degree in Law.
