Maria brings valuable legal, professional, and life experience to her practice. Prior to entering private practice, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Katharine S. Hayden of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. The clerkship impressed upon Maria the importance of maintaining a strong work ethic and honing litigation skills to achieve excellence.
Years spent in a New York-based theater career not only sharpened Maria’s public speaking and advocacy capabilities, but also conditioned her to prepare meticulously and to pursue successful outcomes in spite of any obstacle. Maria’s ease in communicating and connecting with others enhances her ability to serve clients and work effectively with colleagues.
In addition to her clerkship and time as a professional Equity-member stage actor, Maria’s career includes a term as a judicial intern for the Honorable Ronald L. Ellis of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York (Ret.) and legal intern positions at the Natural Resources Defense Council, Earthjustice, and the NYC Department of Health. She also served as a student attorney in the Economic Justice Project Clinic at City University of New York (CUNY) School of Law. Before law school, Maria was the director of partnerships and engagement at Edible Schoolyard NYC, an education non-profit that advocates on food justice issues.
