Nick Jakobi has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning various industries and roles. Nick is currently serving as the Director of Product at Cohere, starting in 2023. Prior to that, they worked at ComplyAdvantage as the VP Data Science from November 2021 to April 2023. In 2020, they held the position of Chief Technical Advisor at BehaviourLab, where they played a crucial role in transforming the company into a tech-driven product company.
From 2017 to 2021, Nick held the dual role of Chief Product and Data Science Officer at Culture Trip, where they significantly grew the product management and design team, introduced company-wide OKRs, and transitioned to cross-functional squads. Nick also served as an Advisor at Bloomsbury AI from January 2017 to August 2018.
Before joining Culture Trip, Nick worked at Facebook as a Product Manager from September 2015 to January 2017, focusing on building effective advertising solutions for brand advertisers. Prior to that, they held the position of Head of Product at State, a social opinion sharing platform, from February 2014 to August 2015.
From 2006 to 2014, Nick worked at Google in various roles, including Senior Product Manager for Emerging Markets, where they were responsible for Google's content strategy and tools. Nick also contributed to the launch of Google Offers and its backend platform.
Nick's career began at Corpora, where they worked as the Director of Research from August 2004 to May 2006. Their responsibilities included overseeing the R&D of text analysis products and actively participating in sales and marketing. Nick also served as the CEO of Algorithmix from June 2003 to August 2004.
Nick Jakobi attended the University of Cambridge from 1988 to 1991, where they obtained an MA degree. Their field of study during this time was Maths part 1 and Philosophy part 2. Nick then pursued further education at the University of Sussex, where they obtained an MSc degree in Knowledge Based Systems from 1994 to 1995. Continuing their academic journey at the University of Sussex, Nick Jakobi completed their PhD in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from 1995 to 1998.
