Syed Maaz Ahmed, CPA

Syed Maaz Ahmed, CPA has a strong background in finance and accounting, with experience in both senior-level roles and entry-level positions. Syed Maaz most recently worked at Cohere as a Senior Accountant, starting in October 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Stacktics as a Finance Manager from February 2022 to October 2022.

From 2019 to 2022, Syed worked at RATESDOTCA Group Ltd. as a Senior Financial Analyst. In this role, they provided support for the annual budget, strategic planning, and forecasting processes. Syed Maaz also performed monthly closing of revenue and expenses and designed financial models to streamline forecasting.

Before that, Syed worked at Drop Technologies as a Senior Accountant from September 2018 to February 2019. Syed Maaz gained further accounting experience at Uberflip, where they started as an Accountant in April 2018 and later became a General Accountant in June 2017.

Syed began their career at Mosaic North America as an Accounts Payable Coordinator from August 2015 to June 2017. Syed Maaz was responsible for various tasks such as expense report auditing, invoice entry and payment processing, and vendor account reconciliation.

In addition to their professional roles, Syed has also volunteered and gained experience as a Tax Preparer at the Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) Tax Clinic York University in 2015 and as a Volunteer Notetaker at Student Accessibility Services (SAS) Trent University in 2011.

Syed Maaz Ahmed, CPA, holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting from York University, which they obtained from 2011 to 2015. In 2017 to 2019, they pursued the Financial Analyst Program at the Corporate Finance Institute® (CFI), specializing in Financial Valuation and Analyst Certification (FMVA). Currently, they are enrolled in the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) program, focusing on Accounting and Finance, with an expected completion year of 2022.

In addition to their formal education, Syed Maaz Ahmed has also obtained certifications such as the Certificate in Master Controllership from CPA Ontario, which they achieved in March 2023. Syed Maaz also holds certifications in "Excel: Creating and Managing Invoices" and "Writing Email" obtained from LinkedIn in May 2018.
