Praveen Medis

Praveen Medis has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Praveen is currently working as a Principal Engineer at Coherent Inc. since September 2022. Prior to that, they served as a Staff Engineer at II-VI Incorporated from September 2019 to September 2022. Praveen also worked as a Staff Engineer at Finisar Corporation from November 2012 to October 2019. Before joining the industry, they gained research experience at various institutions such as BritePointe, Progressive Cooling Solutions, Inc., Siemens TTB, Institute of Materials Research and Engineering, and the Center for Microelectronic Sensors and MEMS at the University of Cincinnati. Praveen's roles in these positions ranged from Senior Scientist to Senior Research Scientist and Innovator.

Praveen Medis earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Physics from the University of Colombo from 1991 to 1995. Praveen then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati from 1999 to 2005.
