Mark Behning currently serves as the Director of the Undersea Warfare Division (N97) at the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV) since July 2023. Prior to this role, Mark Behning was the Commander of Submarine Group 9 from June 2022 to July 2023 and served as the Deputy Director for Strategic Targeting & Nuclear Mission Planning at United States Strategic Command from May 2020 to June 2022. Mark Behning's experience also includes positions as Chief of Staff & Deputy Director, System Program in the US Navy from September 2017 to April 2020 and Branch Head for Sea Based Strategic Deterrence at OPNAV N917 from September 2015 to September 2017. Mark Behning holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the United States Naval Academy and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College, with additional education from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
