Steve Bird

Course Lead Outdoor Education at Coleg Sir Gar | Coleg Ceredigion

Steve Bird has extensive work experience in the field of youth development and outdoor education. Steve is currently working as the Course Lead for Outdoor Education at Coleg Sir Gar since February 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Outdoor Educator FE Tutor at the same institution starting from September 2018. Steve also has experience as the Managing Director of LOADEDUK C.I.C. from October 2014, where they focused on providing learning support and training services to young people, specializing in character development and leadership. Before that, they worked as the Head Youth Development at a self-employed capacity from January 2001 to August 2015, organizing residential adventure camps and overseas trips for young people. Additionally, Steve has also worked at LRC Training as part of their leadership development team from January 2012 to June 2013.

Steve Bird has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Popular Music Performance from the University of West London, which they obtained from 1997 to 2001. Steve furthered their education at De Montfort University from 2009 to 2011, where they earned a Postgraduate degree in Youth and Community Development. In 2019 to 2020, Steve pursued a Postgraduate Certificate in Education in Post Compulsory Education and Training at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. In addition to their formal education, Steve also obtained a Paddle Sport Tutor certification from the British Canoeing Awarding Body in 2021.
