Rayid Ghani has an extensive work experience in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science and Public Policy. Rayid began their career in 1999 as a Graduate Student at Carnegie Mellon University. Rayid then moved on to Accenture Technology Labs in 2001, where they held the position of Director of Analytics Research and Senior Researcher/Research Scientist. In 2011, they were appointed as the Chief Scientist of Obama for America. In 2013, they became the Director of Data Science for Social Good and Co-founder of Edgeflip. Rayid also held the position of Senior Fellow at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago and Director of the Center for Data Science and Public Policy at the University of Chicago. In 2017, they co-founded the Coleridge Initiative. In 2019, they were appointed as the Distinguished Career Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, with a joint appointment in the Machine Learning Department and the Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy. Rayid'sresearch focuses on fairness, equity, and interpretability in human-AI collaborative systems.
Rayid Ghani received their B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics from The University of the South in 1999. Rayid then went on to earn an M.S. in Machine Learning from Carnegie Mellon University in 2001.
