Leigh Berkley

Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant, Mr Berkley has more than 30 years’ experience in the collections and debt purchase industry, served as President of the Credit Services Association (CSA) in the UK, and assisted the Australian Collectors & Debt Buyers Association (ACDBA) develop their Code of Practice.

Having been granted Australian residency last year, Leigh stepped down from the majority of his UK and European roles in order to spend more time at Collection House. Until July 2019, he was Director of External Affairs and Development of leading European debt buyer Arrow Global for four years, responsible for engaging with government and regulators, trade bodies and consumer advice organisations across Europe.

Prior to joining Arrow, Mr Berkley was the CEO and main shareholder of debt buyer Tessera Credit Group, which he led for over 16 years before successfully negotiating a sale of its assets to Arrow Global in December 2014.

Leigh served as Vice President of the European trade body FENCA where he led the development of a Code of Conduct for GDPR for the Collections industry across Europe, and regularly presents at conferences and trade body forums around the world. He was the 2019 President of the prestigious International Collectors Group, remains a Trustee of the FairLife Charity, and is an Ambassador and former Director of the Money Advice Liaison Group.

Mr Berkley was appointed to the Board of Collection House Limited on 1 July 2016, and has been Chairman of the Company since 29 November 2017.

Collection House Limited is a receivables management company. The principal activities of the Company include the provision of debt collection services and receivables management throughout Australasia, and the purchase of debt. The Company's segments include Collection Services, Purchased Debt Ledgers and All other segments. The Collection Services segment includes the earning of commissions on the collection of debts for clients. The Purchased Debt Ledgers segment includes the collection of debts from client ledgers acquired by the Company and its subsidiaries. The Company's services include debt purchasing, collection services, hardship services, legal and insolvency services, and credit management training. Its subsidiaries include CLH Legal Group Pty Ltd, which offers debt recovery, and litigation and insolvency solutions and services; Collective Learning and Development Pty Ltd, a training provider, and Midstate CreditCollect Pty Ltd, a boutique collection agency.
