Valerie Shelton is an experienced chemistry educator and researcher with a career spanning over three decades. Currently serving as a Professor of Chemistry and Chemistry Coordinator at the College of Southern Maryland since January 2011, Valerie utilizes case-studies and problem-based learning strategies to engage students in real-world chemistry applications. Prior to this role, Valerie held various positions including Associate Professor and Assistant Professor of Chemistry, and was the President of Green Power Living, LLC, where expertise in energy efficiency was applied. Additional experience includes teaching adjunct courses at Baltimore City Community College and Prince George's Community College, and serving as a Research Analyst at CNA Corporation. Valerie holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Chicago, an MA in Inorganic Chemistry from the University at Buffalo, and a BA in Chemistry from Gustavus Adolphus College.
