Emily Schulten Weekley

Emily Schulten Weekley is currently a Professor of English and Student Success Services Coordinator at The College of the Florida Keys since September 2015, and serves as the Key West Poet Laureate for the years 2024-2026. Previous academic roles include Limited-Term Assistant Professor at the University of West Georgia from August 2012 to July 2014, and Graduate Teaching & Research Assistant at Georgia State University from August 2009 to May 2012. Emily also contributed as Poetry Editor and Associate Editor at New South and worked as an Editorial and PR Research Assistant for Georgia State University's College of Education between September 2007 and May 2011. Additional teaching experience includes Adjunct Faculty positions at Griffin Technical College and Morehouse College. Emily holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Creative Writing from Georgia State University (2007-2012) and a Master of Arts (MA) in Creative Writing from Western Kentucky University (2002-2004).
