Iman Sebunya

Iman Sebunya has a diverse range of work experience, with a focus on education and providing support to marginalized communities. Their most recent role was as the Director of Therapeutic Learning at Collegiate Academies, where they designed and evaluated therapeutic and restorative programming to enhance learning outcomes. They also provided coaching and feedback to teachers and support staff, created individualized education plans, and implemented behavior intervention plans.

Prior to this, Sebunya worked as a Global Mentor at Teachers College of Columbia University, providing mobile mentoring support to refugee teachers in Kenya. They assisted in training teachers, helped with problem-solving in real-time, and improved teaching practices.

Iman Sebunya has a diverse education history. Starting in 2003, they attended Waterford Kamhlaba UWCSA and obtained an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma in 2007. From 2008 to 2012, they pursued their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology and Ethnic Studies at Lewis & Clark College. In 2016, Iman Sebunya enrolled at Teachers College, Columbia University, earning a Master of Arts (MA) degree with a focus on International Education Development, Peace and Human Rights Education/Humanitarian Aid in 2018. Additionally, they obtained certifications in the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative from the CITI Program and a Level One Teaching Certificate from the Louisiana Department of Education.
