Dan Sander has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles and positions. Dan is currently employed at Collinear Group as a Senior Systems Engineer. In this role, Dan provides technical consultancy and support in the development of Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) for both commercial and military aircraft. Dan is also working towards achieving compliance evidence to attain a Technical Standard Order (TSO) from the FAA for marketing these products to aircraft manufacturers.
Before joining Collinear Group, Dan worked at the Port of Seattle as a Veterans Fellow, where they advised on cyber security policy and strategy. During their time there, they authored policies to align the Port's cyber security efforts with the NIST framework and ensured compliance with data privacy standards.
Prior to that, Dan served in the US Navy, during which they held several leadership positions. Dan was the Director of Information Warfare, leading the Information Operations (IO) and Electronic Warfare (EW) programs. Dan also served as the Director of Operations for the Joint Intelligence Group at Joint Task Force Guantanamo, overseeing interrogation and intelligence production.
Dan's work experience also includes positions at the United States Department of Defense, where they served as a Project Manager for the Navy's Tactical Exploitation of National Capabilities (TENCAP) office, and at DARPA as a Research Fellow. Dan has evaluated ongoing technology development efforts at various companies, universities, and national labs throughout the United States.
Additionally, Dan has served in various roles at the National Security Agency (NSA), including Operations Officer and Program Manager. During their time at the NSA, they supervised personnel and led initiatives related to information system security and signals intelligence programs.
Overall, Dan Sander has demonstrated a strong background in technical consulting, leadership, and strategic advisory roles in both the private and public sectors.
Dan Sander has a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering from the United States Naval Academy. Dan also has a Master of Science degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) from Troy University, obtained in 2005. In 2008 and 2009, Dan earned a Level II Acquisition Certification in Program Management from Defense Acquisition University. Dan also obtained a certificate in Space Systems Operations from Naval Postgraduate School in 2009. Furthermore, Dan attended Joint Forces Staff College in 2002 and obtained a Joint Specialty Officer certification in Joint Professional Military Education.
In terms of additional certifications, Dan is an Advanced open water diver / dry suit diver certified by PADI since June 2010. Dan is also a Navy Space Cadre member certified by the Chief of Naval Personnel since September 2009. Dan holds Program Management Level II certification from Defense Acquisition University since June 2008. Dan obtained their Joint Qualified Officer (JQO) certification from Joint Forces Staff College, National Defense University in June 2005. Additionally, they are a General class amateur "Ham" radio operator certified by the FCC since May 2014. Finally, Dan is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certified by (ISC)² since April 2015 and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certified by the Project Management Institute since April 2012.
