Michael Thompson

Prior to his retirement, Michael Thompson was a partner with Ernst & Young. He began his career as a commercial litigator with a downtown Toronto law firm, before moving to Ernst & Young (Canada), as its General Counsel. In 2003 Michael moved to an International role with the company, where, as a member of its Global Risk Committee, Michael helped support Ernst & Young's global risk management framework implementation, was responsible for the company's global insurance programs, and helped oversee Ernst & Young's responses to reputational and legal challenges around the globe.

Since retiring, Michael has taken on a board role in the insurance industry, as well as becoming significantly involved in providing legal, risk, and quality management support to two global, not-for-profit organizations.

In addition to his LLB and MBA, as a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D), Michael has completed the Directors Education Program at the Rotman School of Management.
