Karen Stone began their work experience in 1991 as an RN, BSN at Sentara Healthcare. Karen then transitioned to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in 2005, where they held the position of RN, BSN, Occupational Health Specialist until 2015. In 2015, they were promoted to the role of Director of Environmental, Health & Safety at the same foundation.

Karen Stone attended Virginia Commonwealth University from 1989 to 1991, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Prior to that, they attended Christopher Newport University from 1979 to 1982, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSA).
