Alicia Zhou

Chief Science Officer at Color

Alicia Zhou is the current Chief Science Officer at Color. Alicia has held various positions at Color, including VP of Research and Scientific Affairs and Partnerships. Alicia has also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at UCSF.

Alicia has always been passionate about genetics and its role in healthcare. As a trained geneticist, they have worked on classifying and interpreting germline genetic variants for the Color 30-gene test for Hereditary Cancer. In their role as VP of Research and Scientific Affairs, they led Business Development for research partnerships with large academic institutions such as UCSF, University of Washington, MD Anderson and many others. Alicia also lead and managed a team in the initiation, execution and publication of peer-reviewed manuscripts, posters and presentations. In their role as Partnerships Manager, they oversaw implementation of large-scale research collaborators like the 100,000 woman WISDOM study with Stanford Medicine.

Alicia's passion for genetics and healthcare has led their to their current position as Chief Science Officer at Color. In this role, they are responsible for leading the scientific strategy for the company. Alicia is committed to democratizing access to genetic testing and believes that everyone should have the opportunity to learn about their genetic risk factors for common diseases.

Alicia Zhou obtained their PhD in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from Harvard University. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies in Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Alicia Zhou works with Kate Botler Kodesh - Chief People Officer, Stephen Lambe - Head of Enterprise Marketing & Revenue Operations, and Scott Topper - Chief Clinical Operations Officer. Their manager is Othman Laraki, CEO & Co-Founder. Some individuals on their team include Serra Kim - Head of Variant Science, Jeroen Van den Akker - Head of Bioinformatics.
