Graham Ottley, MBA has a diverse work experience in the outdoor education and adventure industry. Graham currently holds the position of Director of Education at The Colorado Mountain Club, where they oversee the educational programs. Prior to this, they served as the General Manager at Southern Yosemite Mountain Guides (SYMG) for five years. Graham also has experience working at Outward Bound California as the Director of Safety Risk Management and Program Director. Graham has worked at Summit Adventure as the Program Director and Interim Executive Director, where they managed program budget, developed risk management policies, and handled organizational activities. In addition, Graham has worked as a Senior Field Instructor and Course Director at Outward Bound California, a Program Assistant at Johns Hopkins University, and a Field Science Educator at NatureBridge. With their extensive experience in leadership, program management, and outdoor education, Graham Ottley brings a valuable skillset to any organization in the adventure and education sector.
Graham Ottley obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Outdoor Education and Environmental Studies from Montreat College in 2004. In 2007, they completed the Professional Instructors Course (PIC) at NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School). In 2012, they enrolled at Hope International University and earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management in 2014. Additionally, Graham has obtained various certifications, including Single Pitch Instructor from the American Mountain Guides Association in June 2022 and Administrative Risk Management Training from the National Outdoor Leadership School in May 2014. In January 2014, they received certifications in Adult/Child CPR, AED & Airway Management and Wilderness First Responder from the NOLS Wilderness Medicine Institute (WMI). Furthermore, Graham obtained an AIARE Avalanche Level I certification from the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) in March 2010, and completed the Rock Instructor's Course from the American Mountain Guides Association in 2007.
