Lara Makinen

Lara Makinen has been working in the Human Resources field for over 25 years. Lara started their career as a Benefits Specialist/Human Resources Administrator for United Membership Marketing Group, Inc. in February 1993. Lara then became the Human Resources/Payroll Manager for Specialty Sports Venture, LLC in August 2000. In August 2001, they became a Human Resources Coordinator for PBS&J International Inc. Lara also worked as an Instructor for Colorado Free University from January 2009 to September 2012. In May 2008, they founded and became the owner of Smart Choice Resumes, LLC, a full-service resume development firm. Lara currently serves as the Director at Colorado SHRM State Council.

Lara Makinen has a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management from Regis University. Lara also has an Associate of Science degree in Management and is certified as a Human Resources Management Specialist from Arapahoe Community College. Additionally, they have an Associate of Arts degree in Psychology from Red Rocks Community College. Lara also has a certification from SHRM in SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and from HR Certification Institute - HRCI in Professional in Human Resources (PHR).
