Community Organizing Manager at The Independence Center

Courtney Stone began their career in 2008 as a Lead Direct Support Professional at Bethesda Lutheran Communities. In 2011, they moved to Poudre School District as a Special Education Paraprofessional, followed by a similar role at Harrison School District. In 2011, they returned to Bethesda Lutheran Communities as a Program Manager. In 2013, they joined The Independence Center as a Community Organizer and eventually rose to the role of Community Organizing Manager. In this role, they led the development of the Community Transit Coalition, resulting in a 2.4M dollar increase to the annual transit budget. Courtney also coordinated the facility as a highly accessible polling place for El Paso County elections, organized the "Mental Health Begins With Me" Campaign, and developed trusting partnerships with people with disabilities and community members.

Courtney Stone received their Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Colorado State University between 2006 and 2010.
