Ellen Burnes

Ellen Burnes, Ph.D., MBA, currently serves as Independent Director at The Brendle Group, focusing on water and energy sustainability and BCorp certification since January 2024. Burnes holds various leadership positions, including Chair of the Board of Directors and Board Member at Mental Health Partners since May 2020. Burnes is Finance Faculty at the University of Colorado Boulder, teaching Entrepreneurial Finance and Corporate Finance, and serves as a Professor of Finance (lecturer) at Colorado State University since October 2015. Previously, Burnes was CFO/Finance Chair at the Association for Community Living, Inc., and held key advisory roles at KPMG and Booz & Company. Burnes is the founder of Global Resource Strategies and has extensive educational credentials, including a Ph.D. in Resource Economics from Oregon State University, an MBA from Texas McCombs School of Business, and a Bachelor of Arts in German Language and Literature from Allegheny College.
