Aleta Jeffress is the Director at Colorado Technology Association. Aleta was previously the Chief Information & Strategy Officer at the City of Aurora from January 2014 to December 2020. In this role, they developed digital transformation strategy in alignment with municipal needs and oversaw daily IT operations and a team of 50+ employees that supported 21 departments and 4,000 end users. Aleta also managed a $17M budget.
During their time at the City of Aurora, they presided over a committee drafting a framework to accelerate the City’s adoption of innovative technologies. Aleta also spearheaded a city-wide initiative that shifted the organizational culture around security. As a result of these initiatives, they established the first IT security office and invested in 24/7 IT security monitoring, which saved $260K annually.
In addition, they instituted and staffed a PMO to improve solutions delivery, data security, technology infrastructure, and business transformation. Aleta also augmented city-wide workflows for greater transparency into processes and fee structures. Furthermore, they led the charge to recruit consultants for an 18-month assessment to support investment and implementation of a new enterprise workflow platform.
Finally, they launched a Solution Rationalization Modernization program to consolidate 200+ applications while improving service levels, driving efficiency, and increasing collaboration across all city departments. Throughout their time at the City of Aurora, they developed a strong team of innovative, delivery-focused talent by recruiting managers with private industry experience to infuse fresh perspectives and drive performance
Aleta Jeffress has a BS from Indiana University Bloomington in Public and Environmental Affairs. Aleta has certifications from John C. Maxwell in the Certification Program for Coach, Teacher, Trainer and Speaker, as well as from Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Project Management Professional (PMP).
