Alicia Russell

Pipeline Lead at Colorifix

Alicia Russell is a senior research scientist at Colorifix. Alicia previously worked as an intern at the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, where they analyzed data on antimicrobial resistance and prescribing guidelines for hospital-acquired pneumonia. Alicia also worked as a PhD student at the John Innes Centre, where they focused on the study of natural products from actinomycetes bacteria. In their role, they used a combination of genome mining, bioinformatics, molecular biology, and mass spectrometry to identify and characterize a novel RiPP natural product. Alicia has also worked as a systems integration tester at Hastings Direct and as a public health volunteer with Projects Abroad.

Alicia Russell has a Master of Biological Sciences from the University of Warwick and a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Molecular Microbiology from the University of East Anglia. Alicia also has a degree in Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Music from Bexhill College and a degree in English, Maths, Science, Music, Art, Geography, Spanish from Claverham Community College.

They are on a team with Mark Eldridge - Senior Research Scientist, Margarida Carvalho - Senior Synthetic & Microbial Biologist, and Isadora Ferreira - Fermentation Scientist. Alicia Russell reports to Jim Ajioka, Chief Scientific Officer.
