Cathy Cervantes, Ed.D., has a diverse work experience that spans across various education-related roles. Currently, they serve as a Member of the Board of Directors at California State Polytechnic University-Pomona. Prior to this, they held positions such as Human Resources Director and Educational Services Director at Colton Joint Unified School District. Cathy has also worked as an Elementary School Principal, Elementary Assistant Principal, and Teacher in the same district. Additionally, Cathy has been a President's Council Member at Aquinas High School, a Committee Member at Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and held roles as a School Board President and Member at St. George Parish School. Early in their career, they worked as a Teacher at Diocese of Orange and as a Teaching Assistant for the State of California.
Cathy Cervantes, Ed.D. has an extensive education history. Cathy began their educational journey by earning an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in General Studies from Orange Coast College between 1996 and 1998. Following this, they attended California State University, Long Beach, from 1998 to 2001, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Therapeutic Studies. During the same period, they also earned a Teaching Credential in Teacher Education, Multiple Levels from the same institution.
Further pursuing their education, Cathy attended the University of Phoenix from 2008 to 2010, obtaining a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Building on their expertise, they enrolled in California State Polytechnic University-Pomona and completed a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership and Administration between 2014 and 2017.
Cathy continued to enhance their knowledge and skills within the field of education. Cathy participated in various programs at the National Center for Education & the Economy. Between 2019 and 2021, they completed the NISL - District Systems Design Partnership, earning a degree in Educational Leadership. In 2019, they also received a National Institute for School Leadership (NISL) Certificate of Completion as part of the Executive Development Program.
Lastly, Cathy obtained a Professional Clear degree in Administrative Services Credential from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona in 2017, thus sealing their commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth in the field of education.
