Jennifer Genrich

Jennifer Genrich is the Director of Communications for The Earth Institute at Columbia University. Jennifer has over 20 years of experience in event planning, community outreach, and website development.

Jennifer began their career as a Program Assistant for the Sustainable Agriculture Research Development Program at the United Methodist Committee on Relief. In this role, they were responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of the program.

Jennifer then took on a role as Program Assistant with Joint Action in Community Service (JACS), where they were responsible for assisting with program development, implementation, and evaluation. During their time with JACS, Jennifer also helped to develop and implement a strategic plan for revising the agency website.

In 2001, Jennifer began working as the Manager of Events and Community Outreach for the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services. In this role, they were responsible for managing all aspects of the agency website and special events. This included supervising event staff, interns and volunteers, serving as liaison with vendors, producing printed materials, coordinating mailings and advertising, and planning logistics for all speakers, honorees and guests. Jennifer also developed a strategic plan for revising the agency website and created additional sites for individual programs.

In 2004, Jennifer transitioned to their current role as Director of Communications for The Earth Institute at Columbia University. In this role, they are responsible for promoting the institute's programs and events through various communications channels. This includes developing brochures and other printed materials, placing advertisements in appropriate publications, writing press releases, and disseminating information to community contacts. Jennifer has been instrumental in raising awareness of the institute's work and increasing its visibility both nationally and internationally.

Jennifer Genrich has a Master of Arts in Media Ecology from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications Specialist from Baylor University.

Jennifer Genrich reports to Alex Halliday, Director, The Earth Institute. They work with Alison Miller - Deputy Director for Management, The Earth Institute, George Sarrinikolaou - Director, Office of Academic and Research Programs, The Earth Institute.
