Charles D. Hillman

Charles D. Hillman has over 20 years of experience in housing management and development. Charles D. began their career in 1992 as a Development Manager at Nelson & Associates, Inc. and later moved on to become a Development Manager at Cincinnati MHA from 1994 to 1998. From 1998 to 2006, Charles served as the Assistant Director of Property Management at Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority, where they achieved high occupancy rates and improved services for residents. Charles D. then joined the Chicago Housing Authority in 2006 as the Senior Vice President of Asset Management, where they led a team of 40+ and optimized the performance of a large housing portfolio. Since 2010, Charles has been the President and CEO of Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority, overseeing a high-performance team and implementing a transformational strategy to elevate the agency's work. Throughout their career, Charles has consistently delivered flawless audits and worked with large budgets.

Charles D. Hillman has a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from Bowling Green State University, which they obtained in 1991. Prior to that, they graduated from Archbishop Moeller High School with a High School Diploma in 1986. In terms of further education, Charles has a MBA Management Certification from Loyola University Chicago and has also attended the Next-Generation Executive & Emerging Leader Program at Harvard University. Additionally, Charles has obtained several certifications related to housing management and public housing authorities, including Certified Manager of Maintenance (CMM), Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS), Certified Public Housing Manager (PHM), Executive Director Certification, Executive Director Education Program (EDEP), Executive Public Housing Certification, Housing Quality Standards (HQS) Proficiency, REAC Inspection Training, and Site-Based Budgeting Specialist. The institutions providing these certifications include the National Center for Housing Management, National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO), Public Housing Authorities Directors Association (PHADA), Rutgers, Nan McKay and Associates (NMA), and the Housing & Urban Development Department.
