Lori Akins

Flutist, Piccoloist at Columbus Symphony

Lori Akins is an accomplished flutist and educator with extensive experience in both performance and teaching. Currently serving as the Principal Flutist with the Springfield Symphony since 2008, Lori also holds positions as Flutist and Piccoloist with the Columbus Symphony since 1984 and as Flutist with the Ohio Valley Symphony since 1990. In the academic realm, Lori has taught applied flute at multiple universities, including Cedarville University, Heidelberg University, and Wittenberg University, where responsibilities include directing Flute Choirs and conducting courses in Woodwind Methods and Literature. Lori holds both a Master of Music and a Bachelor of Music Education in Flute Performance from The Ohio State University.
