Matthew Halpern has a diverse range of work experience in software engineering and research. Matthew is currently working as a Software Engineer at Column. Prior to that, they worked at Google as a Senior Software Engineer and Tech Lead, where they led the development of a programmable business rules system for the Google Payments Platform. Matthew also worked at ConsenSys as a Blockchain Protocol Engineer and Tech Lead, where they played a key role in developing the Ethereum client known as Hyperledger Besu. Additionally, Matthew has worked as a Ph.D. Software Engineering Intern at Google, a Graduate Research Assistant at The University of Texas at Austin, a Research Intern at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, a Software Development Intern at Intel Corporation, and a Tutor at The University of Texas at Austin.
