Kelly Smith

Kelly Smith has over 20 years of work experience in the tax industry. Kelly began their career in 2000 as the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Compliance at TaxACT. Kelly then rose to Vice President of Product Development, where they led the development of the overall product strategy and implemented and sustained the strategic product roadmap, pricing, competitive positioning, and product design. Kelly then took on the role of Director/Vice President of Tax Development, where they collaborated with other senior executives to set corporate strategies and initiatives to expand TaxAct products and services. In 2017, Kelly co-founded Return API, a technology platform offering data and APIs to build custom tax applications. From 2019 to 2022, they worked as the Assistant Director at Marion Cares, before taking on their current role as Founding Tax Manager at Column Tax.

Kelly Smith attended Luther College from 1996 to 2000, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Management.
