Barney Breen-Portnoy

Barney Breen-Portnoy is a seasoned journalist and editor with extensive experience in the media landscape. Currently serving as Editor-in-Chief at the Combat Anti-Semitism Movement since January 2021, Breen-Portnoy previously held the position of Managing Editor at The Algemeiner from April 2017 to December 2020 and Senior Correspondent from August 2016 to April 2017. Prior to this, Breen-Portnoy was the Deputy Managing Editor of the Israel Hayom English edition from April 2014 to July 2016 and the acting Managing Editor from December 2013 to April 2014. Breen-Portnoy's background also includes serving as a managing editor in the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, as well as roles at Haaretz, where responsibilities involved desk editing and translating. Early career highlights include reporting on education for the Charlottesville Daily Progress. Breen-Portnoy holds a B.A. in Government and History from the University of Virginia.
