Lennart Thurfjell has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Starting in 1979, they worked in systems development for Positron Emission Tomography at Scanditronix until 1989. Lennart then pursued their academic career at Uppsala University, where they served as a PhD student, Post-doc in Medical Image Processing, and later as an Associate Professor. During this time, they also worked as the Program Director for a national program in visual information technology. In 2000, they joined Reachin Technologies AB as VP R&D and later served as the interim CEO. Thurfjell then moved to Biotage AB, where they built up the software department and led software development in medicinal chemistry systems. From 2004 to 2014, they worked at GE Healthcare, first as Director of Diagnostic Software, then as Managing Director of Uppsala Imanet, and finally as Head of Biomarkers and Software for PET Neurology. In 2014, Lennart Thurfjell co-founded Combinostics, where they served as CEO until May 2021 and resumed the position in May 2023. Concurrently, they held the role of Adjunct Professor in Neuroimaging at Sahlgrenska Academy & University of Gothenburg from 2014 to 2019, focusing on PET, Alzheimer's research, and medical image processing.
Lennart Thurfjell attended Uppsala University from 1985 to 1988, where they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Computer Science. Following this, they pursued further studies at the same institution from 1990 to 1994, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Medical Image Processing.
