Ivan Kalinić has a diverse work experience history. Ivan started their career as an Inspector Techtologist at Split Ship Management in June 2012 and held this position until April 2014. Ivan then transitioned into the role of Technical Inspector from April 2014 to June 2016. After that, they became the Fleet & QSE Department Manager at Split Ship Management from June 2016 to September 2018. Ivan then joined AIDA Cruises in September 2019 as a Communication/IT Officer and worked in this position until December 2021. Currently, they are employed at Combis d.o.o. as a Regional Support Manager since April 2023.

Ivan Kalinić completed their education at various institutions in different fields. In 2003, they attended Electrotechnical high school in Split, where they pursued a field of study that is unspecified. Following this, from 2007 to 2012, Ivan pursued a Master's degree in Computer Science at the Faculty of Science, University of Split. Later, in 2013 and 2014, Ivan attended the University of Cambridge and obtained a degree in English BEC Vantage.
