El COMCE surge en los años 50 con el nombre de Consejo Mexicano de Asuntos Internacionales (CEMAI). En 1999 se fusiona con el Consejo Nacional de Comercio Exterior (CONACEX) para formar el COMCE. El COMCE es el organismo del sector privado mexicano dedicado a la promoción del comercio exterior, la inversión extranjera y el desarrollo tecnológico.
