Beh Lih Yi is an experienced journalist and advocate, currently serving as the Asia Program Coordinator at the Committee to Protect Journalists since September 2022, where responsibilities include leading research and advocacy efforts in Asia and managing a team focused on documenting press freedom violations. Previous roles include serving as a Climate Correspondent and Southeast Asia Correspondent for the Thomson Reuters Foundation, covering critical climate issues and under-reported human rights stories across the Asia-Pacific region. Additionally, Beh Lih Yi held the position of Indonesia Account Director at Cohn & Wolfe, providing media and public outreach strategies for multinational clients, and has extensive reporting experience as a Hong Kong and Malaysia Correspondent at Agence France-Presse, as well as a journalist at Malaysiakini.com, where initial work included covering political news and corruption scandals.
