Sanjay Kharod

Sanjay Kharod has over 20 years of work experience in various roles and organizations. Sanjay is currently the Development Director at The Common Market since 2020. Previously, from 2015 to 2020, they were the Director at Edible Enterprises. Prior to that, they served as the Executive Director at New Orleans Food & Farm Network from 2010 to 2020. Sanjay also worked as an Accelerator Fellow at Propeller: A Force for Social Innovation from 2013 to 2015. Sanjay has a background in city planning and geography, having worked as a City Planner at Lafayette Consolidated Government from 2007 to 2011, and as an Adjunct Professor of Geography at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette from 2003 to 2008. Sanjay also served as the Associate Director at Bayou Vermilion District from 2004 to 2006. Before that, they held roles in partnership development and foundation relations at Just Food, NYC from 1998 to 2002. Sanjay has also worked as an Adjunct Professor of Geography at Rutgers University from 1991 to 1999, and at Temple University from 1994 to 1998.

Sanjay Kharod obtained a Master of Arts (MA) in Geography from Rutgers University, where they studied from 1991 to 1993. Following their master's degree, Sanjay continued their education at Rutgers University and pursued a Ph.D. in Geography from 1993 to 2002. It is worth noting that they did not complete their Ph.D. and holds an "abd" standing, which stands for "all but dissertation."
