Katherine Crofford

Katherine Crofford is a Structural Mechanical Engineer II at Commonwealth Fusion Systems, having joined in July 2025. Previously, Katherine worked at SpaceX from June 2021 to July 2025 as a Starship Engineer II, focusing on primary structures, and as a Mechanical Design Engineer, where responsibilities included the mechanical design and integration of space avionics systems. Earlier experience includes roles as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Center for Automation Technologies & Systems, a Physics Lab Facilitator, and a Mechanical Engineer at Herrick Technology Laboratories, Inc. Katherine also completed internships in mechanical and process engineering at Sensata Technologies, as well as a summer internship at II-VI Incorporated. Katherine earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2021 and is a graduate of Morristown High School.
