Basheerhamad Shadrach currently serves as the Director of the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia at the Commonwealth of Learning since June 2022, leading education and training initiatives for sustainable development. Additionally, Basheerhamad holds roles as an International Alumni Ambassador for Loughborough University and as an expert on the Steering Committee for GPAI. Previous significant positions include consulting for UNESCO-UNEVOC and advising on skills development at the Commonwealth of Learning. With extensive experience in ICT4D, education, and development consulting, Basheerhamad has contributed to international organizations like the World Wide Web Foundation and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Basheerhamad's educational background includes a PhD in Information Science from Loughborough University and multiple certifications in gender mainstreaming and leadership.

The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) is an intergovernmental organisation created by Commonwealth Heads of Government to encourage the development and sharing of open learning and distance education knowledge, resources and technologies. COL is helping developing nations improve access to quality education and training. Hosted by the Government of Canada, COL is the only official Commonwealth agency located outside Britain and the world’s only intergovernmental organisation solely concerned with the promotion and development of distance education and open learning.
