Tynan has experience as a Non Executive Director at Open Universities Australia and FutureLearn, and served as Pro Vice-Chancellor for Learning, Teaching & Innovation at The Open University. Academic contributions include an Honorary Professorship at The University of Queensland and various advanced degrees in education from prominent institutions. Tynan has also received certifications in organisational coaching from the Institute of Executive Coaching and Leadership.

COL is helping developing nations improve access to quality education and training. Hosted by the Government of Canada, COL is the only official Commonwealth agency located outside Britain and the world’s only intergovernmental organisation solely concerned with the promotion and development of distance education and open learning.
