Norma O.

Contractual Vice President - CSI Non-profits at Communications Workers of America

Norma O. has a diverse work experience, starting from 2012. Norma began as a Student at Semester At Sea / ISE, gaining insight into global cultures and developing an analytical perspective on international human rights law systems. At UC Santa Barbara, they served as a Resident Assistant and later became the Co-Chair for the University of California Santa Barbara IDEAS. Norma then joined the Office of Senator Dianne Feinstein as a Legislative Intern in 2014. Following that, they worked at The Campaign for Free College Tuition as a Campaign Director, managing social media presence and interns. In 2016, Norma became a Chapter Representative for Semester At Sea / ISE, organizing networking events for alumni and prospective students. Norma later joined Communications Workers of America in 2020, where they serve as a Contractual Vice President - CSI Non-profits, supporting non-profit members and co-chairing the Legislative and Political Committee. Their most recent position is with the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, starting in 2017. Norma has held various roles within the organization, including Communications Manager, Sr. Communications Strategist, Sr. Digital Communications Associate, and Digital Communications Associate.

Norma O. attended the University of San Francisco from 2017 to 2019 and received a Master's degree in Migration Studies. Prior to that, they studied at UC Santa Barbara from 2010 to 2014 and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Global Studies with an Emphasis in the Middle East. Additionally, in 2012, they participated in the Semester at Sea program, although no degree or field of study is specified for that experience.
