Penny Watkins, MSW, currently serves as the Crisis Program Director and Crisis Intervention Specialist at Communities in Schools of Southeast Harris and Brazoria County Inc since September 2022. Prior experience includes a role as a Social Work Intern at Progressive Multi-Medical from December 2021 to August 2022 and as an Instructional Coach at The Children's Guild during 2021. Educational accomplishments include a Doctor of Social Work degree from the University of Kentucky, expected in May 2026, a Master of Social Work from Widener University obtained in May 2022, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Hampton University, completed in May 2018.

Communities In Schools (CIS) of Southeast Harris and Brazoria County is a combination of two 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations. CIS provides exemplary services that empower students to successfully learn, stay in school and achieve in life. Our primary focus is to provide students with the necessary resources, tools and real-world skills that give them the opportunity to be successful in school and beyond the classroom.
