Gretchen (Sandy) O'Sullivan has a diverse work experience. Gretchen started their career in 2004 as a Volunteer Coordinator at AmeriCorps VISTA and later served as a Volunteer at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh. In 2006, they worked as a Project Director at Tripp Umbach, Inc. Gretchen then joined Washington Community Arts and Cultural Center as a Financial Coordinator from 2007 to 2010. In 2010, they briefly worked as a Temporary Employee at Alliance for Excellent Education. From 2011 to 2013, they were a Research and Evaluation Manager at Communities In Schools National Office. Gretchen later served as an Associate Director of Evaluation & Data Management (2014-2016) and then as the Director of Data Quality (since 2016) at the same organization.

Gretchen (Sandy) O'Sullivan pursued their higher education at Allegheny College from 2000 to 2004, earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. During their time at Allegheny College, Gretchen focused on Psychology and Religious Studies. Gretchen then went on to attend Carnegie Mellon University - Heinz College from 2006 to 2008, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree. Their field of study at Carnegie Mellon University was Public Policy & Management.
