Diane Cairns

After a 32-year career with IBM Canada, Diane retired in 2012. She spent many years in finance and human resources. She has led teams to redesign many of the company programs and policies. Her portfolio also focused on privacy, corporate restructuring and diversity. Prior to retirement, she was responsible for the investigation and resolution of employee conduct, which involved representing IBM in mediations and legal cases. One of her highlights was creating, developing and managing and annual week-long camp for young girls that exposed them to technology and provided them with female mentors. She ran this program for nine years beginning in 2001, and it is still run at IBM to this day. Diane's volunteer activities have included both palliative care and bereavement support with Community Care's Hospice Services. She has also helped organize Handbags for Hospice and the Care Gala. She is the Community Care Foundation Board Chair and co-chair of the Fenelon Falls Santa Day Donation team. Through these long-term commitments, she has helped raise thousands of dollars toward helping local charities. Diane has participated in many of the agency's programs, including SAGES exercises, walking programs and blood pressure clinics. When not volunteering, she enjoys travel, reading, knitting and sewing.
