Dan McGrath works as a strategic consultant to social, racial, and economic justice organizations throughout the country. He was introduced to community organizing at the age of 17 during a cross-country road trip with Sister Kathleen Ries, his aunt, and has been an organizer ever since. Dan served for 12 years as the founding executive director of taking Action Minnesota, an innovative multi-racial people's organization that earned a national reputation for its innovative coalition building and numerous campaign breakthroughs. He also served as the executive director of Progressive Minnesota and worked inside the labor movement for SEIU. Dan has worked on and led numerous issues, community, and electoral campaigns. His overseas experience includes work at the Glencree Centre for Reconciliation in the Republic of Ireland, the Institute for Democracy in South Africa (IDASA), and as an election observer in El Salvador. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Hamline University. Dan resides in St. Paul, Minnesota with his wife and three children.
