Dr. Sonya Bruton has a diverse work experience spanning over several organizations and roles. Dr. Sonya began their career in 1993 at UNC - Chapel Hill as a Major Gifts Officer, where they worked for six years. In 1999, they moved on to become the Chief Executive Officer at the NC Community Health Center Association, where they served for nine years. From 2008 to 2011, Dr. Bruton worked as a Project Director at Altarum. In 2016, they joined CCI Health & Wellness Services as the Associate Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, a position they held until 2020. Currently, Dr. Bruton serves as the Chief Executive Officer and President at CCI Health Services. Additionally, they have authored a book titled "Advantage books," which is scheduled to be released in 2023.
Dr. Sonya Bruton holds a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, which they earned from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between the years 1985 and 1989. Later, they pursued a Master's Degree in Public Administration from NC State University Graduate School, completing the program from 1994 to 1997. In 2011, Dr. Bruton embarked on their study in Clinical Psychology, ultimately obtaining a Psy.D. from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology at Washington DC between 2011 and 2016. Additionally, they possess a certification as a Clinical Psychologist, which was awarded by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Psychologists in July 2019.
