Knowledge And Learning Officer at The National Lottery Community Fund

Dr. Gavin Watters has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Dr. Gavin began their career at HCL BPO as a Lexis Nexis Key Accounts Administrator from September 2004 to November 2011. From February 2011 to November 2011, they volunteered as a Community Relations Researcher for the Irish Football Association, where they conducted research on community relations issues related to Irish League football.

Subsequently, they joined The Halifax Foundation for Northern Ireland as an Administrative Officer from November 2011 to April 2013. In this role, they processed and managed grant applications and provided administrative and secretarial support to the team and Board of Trustees.

Following this, Dr. Watters worked at Depaul (Ireland) in various roles. Dr. Gavin served as an Office Manager from June 2017 to October 2019, where they managed the Northern Ireland Regional Office and undertook tasks such as procurement, event management, and development of reports. Additionally, they served as a Policies and Procedures Officer / IT Projects from September 2016 to June 2017, where they reviewed and updated policies and procedures. Dr. Gavin also took on the role of Office Manager / IT Projects from April 2013 to September 2016, managing the Northern Ireland Central Office and providing IT support.

From November 2019 to February 2020, Dr. Watters worked as a Senior Clerical Officer at THE CONTROLLED SCHOOLS' SUPPORT COUNCIL, providing administrative and clerical support for the organization's work in supporting Controlled Schools in Northern Ireland.

Currently, Dr. Watters holds the position of Knowledge and Learning Officer at The National Lottery Community Fund since March 2020. In this role, they are responsible for creating and sharing knowledge and learning from the Fund's work and the work that they support on the ground.

Throughout their different roles, Dr. Gavin Watters has gained experience in administrative support, project management, data analysis, policy development, and stakeholder communication.

Dr. Gavin Watters completed their education with a wide range of degrees. Dr. Gavin started their education at St Malachy's College, Belfast, from 1996 to 2003. Dr. Gavin then attended Queen's University Belfast, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Modern History and Social Anthropology from 2003 to 2006. Dr. Gavin continued their studies at the same university and obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Social Anthropology from 2006 to 2007. Dr. Watters further pursued their education at Queen's University Belfast and received a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Social Anthropology from 2007 to 2015. Additionally, during the same period, they also completed a Researcher Plus Award at Queen's University Belfast.
