Gareth Wyn Hughes has a diverse work experience spanning various sectors. Gareth Wyn began their career as a Welsh Speaking Customer Service Advisor at Revenue Management Services from March 2002 to January 2004. Following that, they worked as a Team Leader at the same company from January 2004 to March 2005. Additionally, Gareth served in the Royal Navy as an AB (MTO) in the Maritime Trade Operations Branch from May 2002 to November 2016, where they were deployed to various locations for operational duties.

In 2005, Gareth joined BBC Children in Need as a Grant Assessor, responsible for assessing grant applications and providing detailed reports and recommendations on funding. Gareth Wyn worked in this role until May 2014.

From 2005 to 2015, Gareth worked at the Big Lottery Fund, initially as a Funding Officer and later as a Developing Local Knowledge Officer. While in the latter role, their responsibilities included sharing intelligence, building relationships with stakeholders, and improving decision-making processes. Gareth Wyn also played a key role in developing a program to support young parents and young disabled people.

Since January 2018, Gareth has been working at The National Lottery Community Fund as an Internal Engagement Coordinator.

Gareth Wyn Hughes started their education at Ysgol Bottwnnog from 1990 to 1995, where they completed their high school education. Gareth Wyn then attended Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor from 1995 to 1997. Gareth went on to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Human Geography from Aberystwyth University, where they studied from 1997 to 2000. Gareth Wyn later studied at the University of Central Lancashire from 2004 to 2006, earning a Certificate in Management (PGCert) and a Diploma in Management Studies (DMS) PGDip.
