Cooper Welch

Cooper Welch has a diverse background in communications and media relations, spanning both educational institutions and other organizations. Cooper began their career in 2010 at Texas A&M University-Commerce, where they held multiple roles including Sports Information Assistant, Graduate Research Assistant, Host at 88.9 KETR, and Director of Board Operations. In these positions, they gained experience in video production, technical directing, and managing a team of camera operators.

From 2014 to 2018, Cooper worked as an Associate Director of Media Relations at Jacksonville University and Lamar University. During their time there, they served as the primary point of contact for various sports teams and managed the communications strategy for those teams. This involved coordinating media coverage, creating feature stories and game notes, and hosting a podcast to engage with fans.

Most recently, Cooper served as the Director of Communications for Community Independent School District, where they took on the role of head communications and public relations officer. As a member of the senior staff cabinet, they had overall responsibility for managing the district's communications efforts.

Cooper also gained experience outside of the education field, working as a Part Time Correspondent for the Sulphur Springs News Telegram and as a Videographer at Carolina Creek Christian Camp, where they produced videos and photographs for the camp's promotional material.

Cooper Welch completed their high school education at Sulphur Springs High School from 2005 to 2009. Cooper then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Radio & Television from Texas A&M University-Commerce, where they studied from 2009 to 2013. Following their undergraduate studies, Cooper continued their education at Texas A&M University-Commerce, obtaining a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Sports & Recreation Management, which they completed from 2013 to 2015.
