Maria Alexiou

Maria Alexiou is a qualified legal professional currently serving as a Staff Lawyer at CLEO (Community Legal Education Ontario / Éducation juridique communautaire Ontario) since October 2023. Prior to this role, Maria worked as a Refugee and Immigration Lawyer at Jared Will & Associates from April 2022 to October 2023 and as an Immigration Lawyer at Matkowsky Immigration Law for a brief period in late 2021. Maria gained valuable experience in child law as Counsel and Articling Student at the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General's Office of the Children's Lawyer from August 2020 to July 2021. Maria's legal career began with various roles at Downtown Legal Services, where responsibilities included serving as Satellite Clinic Coordinator and Summer Caseworker in the Refugee and Immigration Division. Educationally, Maria holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science with a History Minor from the University of Toronto, graduating with High Distinction.
