Bob Sipchen

Senior Research Fellow at Community Partners

Bob Sipchen is an experienced educator and journalist with a career that spans over three decades. Currently, Sipchen serves as an Associate Professor in the Writing and Rhetoric Department at Occidental College, where teaching focuses on Newswriting, Narrative Non-Fiction, and the communications course "Rhetorical Faultlines -- Journalism, Persuasion and Propaganda." In addition to academic responsibilities, Sipchen holds the position of Senior Research Fellow at Community Partners. Notably, Sipchen spent an extensive period at the Los Angeles Times, contributing as a Senior Editor and receiving prestigious Pulitzer Prizes for editorial writing and coverage of significant events. Previously, Sipchen served as National Communications Director and Editor-in-Chief of SIERRA magazine for the Sierra Club, underscoring a commitment to environmental advocacy and impactful messaging.
