Christina Smith

President/CEO at Community Support Advocates

Christina Smith has a diverse work experience in the field of community support. Christina started their career in 1996 as an Employment Specialist at Community Life Program. Later, in 1998, they became a Case Manager at Community Support Advocates. Progressing in their career, they became the Director of Integrated Services at the same organization in 1999. From 2004 onwards, Christina took on the role of Director of the Momentum Art Program at Community Support Advocates, where they established a free art studio and gallery for individuals with disabilities or mental health conditions. Additionally, in 2009, they became the President of Community Support Advocates. Throughout their work experience, Christina has focused on promoting hope, resilience, and providing integrated services to the community.

Christina Smith completed their Bachelor's Degree in Child and Family Services from Iowa State University, graduating between the years 1994 and 1996. In 2009, they participated in the From Vision to Action program, focused on Change Leadership, but did not receive a degree. Additionally, they completed the Transformational Leadership Program at the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute in 2003 and 2004, without earning a degree. Before attending Iowa State University, Christina Smith studied Psychology and Biology at Central College from 1992 to 1994, also without obtaining a degree. Most recently, in 2021, they completed a program on Entrepreneur and Non-Profit Leadership through the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses - Iowa, resulting in a degree.
