Sean Matthys

Sean Matthys currently serves as the Senior Manager of Major Gifts at Compassion International since April 2023. Prior experience includes over a decade at The University of Iowa Center for Advancement, where Sean held positions ranging from Assistant Director to Executive Director of Development in Health Care Philanthropy, successfully leading fundraising efforts that generated $64 million annually and managing a portfolio of major gift donors averaging $4.5 million in contributions. Prior to this, Sean worked as an Event Marketing Representative at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, coordinating numerous fundraising events that raised $850,000. Sean holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Marketing: Sales and Advertising and Spanish from the University of Northern Iowa, as well as a completion certificate in Spanish from Universidad de Oviedo.
